A few people have asked me recently what a normal day looks like for me. I think this stems from wondering how I “fit things in”, what I eat, etc. Here’s about what it looks like, give or take.
6:30am: Wake up and walk my dog.
7:00am: Hop in the shower, get ready for work.
7:30am: Make a lunch and a smoothie. The smoothie usually consists of Vanilla Shakeology, banana and almond milk.
7:45am: Walk to work while drinking said smoothie.
12:00pm: Eat lunch! Lunch is usually dinner from the night before, or a quick meal I can throw together in the morning. 98% of the time I eat at my desk. I don’t like to, but it is what it is. I try to make sure it has at least one serving of vegetables and a lot of protein. For a while my lunches were NOT big enough and I would be forced to buy an extra snack. (This still happens some times, especially when I work out hard the night before). This gets expensive, and let’s face it, snacks aren’t usually the BEST choices when you haven’t packed them. Some popular lunches I pack:
- sliced turkey, veggies, crackers and string cheese
- Stir frys
- Salmon, quinoa, and vegetables
- Leftovers from a restaurant I’ve visited for dinner during the week.
- If I eat out for lunch, I try to grab a salad. I HATE packing salads. I find it to be way too much work so its a nice (healthy) splurge.
3:00pm: Snack time. Some popular snacks I take are:
I also try to drink a lot of water throughout the day! Depending on when I get home from work, is what my dinner plan will be. For example, tonight I didn’t get done with a 30 minute work out until 7pm and I had more work to do. Dinner was a super easy greek yogurt parfait so I didn’t have to cook. I usually try to cook so I have leftovers for the next day, so it just depends on my schedule.
After (or sometimes before depending on timing) I then fit in work out. Some nights this is a 15 minute strength circuit in my living room. Some nights its a quick run. Others its skipped completely. On extra special nights, I’ll get to a class like FlyWheel (which I LOVE).
After that, I usually shower and catch up on stuff around the house. I like to be in bed around 10pm.
There you have it! Like I said, there is a lot of variety mixed in there, but having a routine and schedule is pretty required for my sanity.
