I really enjoyed reading Jenna’s recent post on a typical day-in-the-life. So, I decided to document a typical Wednesday (though that’s about to change when I move!).
7 a.m. Wake up, feed the meowing cat.
7:10 a.m. Make my morning booster: a cup of green tea with a few slices of lemon. I also grind some coffee beans and boil water in the kettle for my morning french press.
7:20 a.m. Shower. Get ready while watching a show on Netflix. It’s a guilty pleasure, and doing my hair seems to take forever.
8 a.m. Make my morning shake. My combination is simple but delicious: 1 scoop of Vegan Chocolate Shakeology, 10 ice cubes, 2 tsp. of PB2, and about a cup of almond milk. I drink this while I sit in terrible Pittsburgh traffic.
8:30-9 a.m. Arrive at work. Write. Write. Write. Yesterday, I wrote about predator-prey systems in the wild. Spiders and crickets, in particular. About 8 ounces of coffee is also consumed during these hours.
11 a.m. Eat my first mini-meal: a handful of almonds.
12:30-1 p.m. Lunch. I am such a creature of habit. I have eaten the same thing every day for lunch for months. “Quick-as-Lightning Chili,” a recipe from the Vegan Planet. But I add ground turkey to mine.
1:30-2:30 I have a staff meeting at work. Followed by more writing, media calls, and helping the intern.
3:30 p.m. Snack time again! I pretty much live my life around mealtimes. I eat carrots and hummus most afternoons.
5-5:30 p.m. My favorite time of the day: T25 workout! Yesterday I tackled Speed 2.0. I had meant to bring my resistance band so I could also get Upper Focus in, but I forgot. I do this workout in my office now, which is weird but I actually perform better and get home earlier.
5:30-6ish p.m. Sit in traffic on the way home. This takes up more of my day then I’d like. I’m always ready to be home.
6:30 p.m. Take care of house chores, do the dishes, check the mail. Start making dinner. Lately I’ve been eating pasta with broccoli on the regular. I’ve been too lazy to cook.
7:30-9:30 p.m. Porch chat with friends. My friend Nick came over, and we drank a bit of vino on Cat’s porch (note: I don’t drink wine on a typical day; this is just birthday week). If I’m not being social, I’m usually binding books, reading, or gardening. Maybe petting the cat. On Thursdays I take a hip hop class, my favorite.
11:30 p.m. Lights out! Goodnight.
What’s your typical day look like?
