Rose: PA, WV and Beyond

I realize Christmas was more than week away, and I am only just now getting up my recap post. Honestly, I need a vacation after my vacation! I know you can all relate to this. We tried to pack a lot in throughout 10 days, and it left us feeling a bit tired. However, I got to reconnect with many of my family members and friends over the break and for that, I am grateful.

The vacation started off with a lively game of Pop the Pig with my three nieces. I only got to see them for a couple of hours the Saturday before Christmas, but it was definitely worth it. They are growing up so fast, but their cheeks are still so pinchable!

The weather was warm on Christmas, and we actually sat on the porch quite a bit. There was a beautiful mist that arose one morning, and I was lucky to snag a photograph. You don’t see scenes like this every day, and so I tried to be present in the moment. Stunning.

One of the highlights of the trip was watching Scone adjust to his surroundings – ha! I had to take him with me this holiday season because I didn’t have anyone to watch him. I was surprised at how well he behaved while both in PA and WV. He only got sick a few times (a victory, considering his sour stomach). And he scratched furniture less than five times. Good job, Scone!

We took our sleds, not really anticipating any snow. But as luck would have it, there was a bit of a downfall the day before Christmas. We took advantage and sledded down my parents’ yard. The hill was not as dramatic as I remember it being when I was a kid. Still, we had fun.

Christmas Eve is always reserved for wine and cards with my cousin Moo. She is the closest thing I have to a sister. We’ve been thick as thieves since we were just kiddos. We laughed and talked and drank the night away. A few games of Pinochle were played. All was right in the world.

This was M and I’s second Christmas together. Last year, we had been dating just two months. It was great spending our Christmas together, traveling. Next year, we might do things a bit different since we were exhausted by the time we got back. But all in all, it was a really great holiday.

We traveled to WV after our visit in PA, and more pictures were taken, but I am going to save that for another post. Here’s to the new year! Hip hip!
