Jenna: Moving

As much as I dislike the physical act, moving is something I am really familiar with. As a child, I never lived in the same place for more than 3.5 years. My dad’s job took us all around the country, and for this reason I often get antsy once I’ve been somewhere for too long.

However, I think three apartments in 2 years in the same building is a bit much…but the opportunity has always seemed to present its self and to make things a bit more manageable financially.

It’s so exhausting! My new apartment has a better layout, and I love it. What I did NOT love, was having to build this:

kitchenisland

Damn you Ikea furniture! I always forget that you come in 10000 pieces and take three hours to put together. That was eventually a kitchen island.

My new room wasn’t quite big enough for my old dresser, so I bought (and built) this one:

It’s a super space saver now that it doubles as a TV stand. (p.s. see that pink/purple container in the background? That’s my workout clothes. My incentive for working out is that I don’t have to fold those…I just throw them in that container).

All in all, I really like the new place!

When was the last time you moved?

  1. I laughed when you described the pink tote. The bottom drawer of my dresser is for workout clothes & pjs. It’s a toss-in drawer. Never fold. It’s my one messy drawer and it’s perfect!

The last time I moved was when we bought a house in November 2009. Prior to that, I moved almost every year – with a 2-3 year stint here and there. Growing up, though, I was in the same house my entire 18 years.
