Rose: A Quick Makeup Review

I recently splurged on a few items from Sephora:

Below are my thoughts on each.

Smashbox Hydrating Foundation

If you use the right primer beforehand, this foundation will last nearly 15 hours. It also gives you this flawless, “camera ready” look, especially when buffered correctly with a makeup brush. I’ve actually been using this foundation in conjunction with another. I ordered the wrong shade (it’s a bit too light for me), but mixing it with another seems to work better. I wouldn’t recommend doing this, but it’s working for me in the interim.

I would rate this: B+.

Too Faced Better than Sex Mascara

When I first tried this mascara, I was pretty annoyed. It’s clumpy and hard to manage. But that’s also the point. Once you master the technique, this mascara can provide you with long, full lashes. You just need to be patient when applying. It is very wet when it first hits your eyelashes, so you really need to wait until it dries. In the end, I’m really happy with this product, and I’ll definitely continue using it. You just need to master the technique before you see the benefits.

I would rate this: A-.

Urban Decay Naked 2

I also struggled with this palette at first. You really have to experiment with the eyeshadow colors that work for you. But, once you figure it out, you’ll love it. I’ve been using this shadow in conjunction with an eyeshadow primer, and it works wonder. I’ve figured out my favorite two-color combination, and I like the “smoky” look it gives my eyes. I also love the variety of shades within one container — definitely worth the money, as this will last for a long while.

I would rate this: A.

You may see a trend in my reviews. Once I mastered the technique or figured out color, these products started working wonderfully for me. I watched a lot of YouTube tutorials and chatted with friends to get to this place. I’m glad that I did, as I’m reaping the full benefits of these products. Looking forward to figuring out more going forward!
