Hi, I’m Jenna.
I started working full time as a Marketing Manager after undergrad during 2006. I was lucky enough to receive a job where I was living in Tallahassee, FL and didn’t have to relocate. I got the opportunity to go back to school full time at Florida State and received my MBA. After finishing that in 2008, I started working super long hours in the ever-so-demanding corporate world. However, the hard work paid off professionally. I received a great promotion about a year ago and relocated to Center City Philadelphia.
A mix of city living, some health issues and re-evaluating priorities has got me on the healthy living band wagon. Grad school perpetuated lots of beer and app filled happy hours, that turned into staying out until 2am. I wasn’t taking good care of myself. I fell into ruts as I’d enter different relationships and make that other person the priority. I worked really long hours at my job to get ahead (and still do) and ended up eating lots of fast food while I worked on the couch each night.
I’ve learned a lot about myself this last year being in Philly on my own, including how important it is for my sanity to make healthy eating and exercise a part of my life. I walk to work every day. I pack a balanced lunch and fuel my long days with wholesome eats. And STILL enjoy happy hour and nights out now and again. This new healthy habits, mixed with finding my passion for health and fitness, led to a gradual and healthy 40 pound weight loss.
I read a lot of blogs and website for recipe and workout ideas, and find many of them hard to relate to. I work. A lot. I can’t go to the gym in the afternoon, or spend tons of time preparing meals with 100 ingredients. It’s just me. That’s what inspired my cousin Rose and I to start this blog. It’ll be a place for us to share our healthy living experience and 9-5 balance with each other. And hopefully you too.
